Good afternoon, another week, another behind the scenes here at hirearchy. A thing that’s been driving us crazy lately: well mostly me, is the fact that hiring someone locally feels like applying for a top secret government MIA sorta gig. And I’m SCUNDERED. Please, gosh almighty. Just Stop. Picture this (because you’ve definitely witnessed it): it’s 8:00 AM on a Friday, a local cafe owner gets a text from their main barista saying they "ate bad chicken" (we both know they were at a venue until 4:00 AM, that barista might have been me in a past life *cough, cough*), and the morning rush hits in twenty minutes, well it hits as soon as you open, because Northern Ireland is FEULD on coffee. What’s the standard play here? Post on a giant corporate site, wait four business days for resumes, and hold a panel interview for a single shift? Literally why?Behind the scenes, we’ve been running around like absolute maniacs locking in partnerships with actual local businesses, independent shops, and neighborhood spots. (Thanks for the free coffee, you all know who you are, i might have messed up my sleeping pattern but well worth it) We want Hirearchy to be the ultimate panic button for local hiring.If a business near you needs an extra pair of hands right now, they should just be able to hire someone who lives five minutes down the road. It keeps cash in the neighborhood, and honestly, if you’ve got a free afternoon and want to make some quick money, you shouldn't have to write a cover letter explaining your "deepest life passions" just to lend a hand nearby.
